Recreational Program
EGSA needs coaches, assistant coaches and team managers for our Fall and Spring recreational soccer programs.
EGSA will typically field several teams in each of the following section: u10 Boys, u10 Girls, u12 Boys, u12 Girls, u15 Boys and u15 Girls. In the younger age groups, u6 Coed, u8 Boys, u8 Girls we often field more than a dozen teams . Each team needs a coach and at least one assistant coach. Team managers are also needed to help things run smoothly. If you do the math, you can see that each season we need over 100 volunteers.
Most of our coaches are parents of children playing EGSA recreational soccer, so as these players advance, move away or change sports, we need a constant supply of new volunteers, particularly for the younger age groups. If you child is playing for EGSA, please consider taking a volunteer position. Without your support, we would not have a recreational soccer program. Follow the link at the bottom of this page to register.
Don't worry, if you are new to the sport of soccer or just new to coaching, EGSA offers free coaches clinics throughout the year for U6, U8 and U10 age groups. If you cannot commit to a coaching position, volunteering as an assistant coach is a great way to help out and/or to learn to be a great coach!

Competitive Program
EGSA needs coaches, assistant coaches and team managers for our competitive soccer program, which runs three seasons (Fall, Winter and Spring).
The Competitive Committee will solicite coaching applications concurrently with competitive tryout signups. We are assembling a group of coaching candidates for each age group and gender prior to the spring tryouts. Our intent is to select the "Anchor" or first tier team coach prior to the spring tryouts. The Committee may request additional coaching information including, but not limited to: coaching experience, certifications, licensing, soccer background and prior evaluations.
Anchor team coaches will work in cooperation with the other age group coaches and the Competitive Committee during the try out process. We will also ask the Anchor team coach to take an active role within the age group to promote a consistent development and progression of the age group players and coaches throughout the competitive year. Selected coaches will be strongly encouraged to evaluate players at try outs within the age/gender group they will be coaching (at a minimum).
EGSA's competitive year will now run from the fall through the spring of the following year. Teams selected based on each years try outs are expected to participate in both the fall and spring soccer seasons.
Soccer Rhode Island and Super Liga has established certain coaching requirements. All appointed coaches should posses or are required to obtain soccer teaching/coaching certificates in accordance with Soccer Rhode Island guidelines. Additional training will be promoted and encouraged as the year progresses.
The Committee recognizes that our Coaches are the key to promoting and improving the quality of soccer in EGSA, and we thank you for your valuable time.
